Getting to Harry’s Camp Whether you are flying in or taking a scenic drive from Johannesburg, getting to our camp is part of the adventure.

  • By Air: We are conveniently located just a 15-minute drive from Eastgate Airport (HDS) in Hoedspruit. We can assist in arranging airport transfers to bring you directly to the camp gates.

  • By Road: Harry’s Camp is approximately a 5 to 6-hour drive from Johannesburg. The route takes you through the beautiful Drakensberg escarpment and the town of Hoedspruit.

Important Access Note: To preserve the tranquility and safety of the reserve, self-driving within the Timbavati is not permitted. Once you arrive at the designated meeting point or reserve gate, your certified FGASA ranger will take over, ensuring you arrive at the camp safely while enjoying your first game drive.

Timbavati Gate & Conservation Levies When visiting Harry’s Camp, please note that all guests are required to pay the Timbavati Conservation Levy (currently R340 per person per night). This fee goes directly toward the protection of our rhinos and the conservation of this pristine ecosystem.
